The Hatter's Decline

While browsing, I try to refrain from learning the title to interpret what I can on an instant's basis - hats off to thee for creating a piece that conveyed yourself in an "idealistic" manner ( ideals in a realistic way). Mental interpretation aside, visual aspects capture your field of vision at every angle and shade. The color palate makes my mind think of Autumn/fall, or an ending of a bright era (Summer). Through The Looking Glass brings to mind a scene filled with Nature, so the change in the scene's setting adds more emphasis to the change in era of the Hatter. I can see there was deep thought behind this idea and execution of it. May I inquire as to the origins of this piece's idea?
